Alice Walker’s Style

The author, Alice Walker, writes with such attitude that it’s impossible to not feel certain emotions when reading her literary pieces. It’s as if she pours out her soul onto the book and let you read all her emotions. Her writing style is influenced from the African-American woman perspective of how to deal with the struggles of real world such as coping with abuse and rape. For example, the following excerpt comes from her book entitled The Color Purple by Shug, a main character:

I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it.

This quote emphasize the idea that God created the color purple for the purpose to give someone pleasure. Therefore, to walk pass by the color purple and not get any pleasure or enlightment by it will be unappreciable. As a matter of fact, it will make God distressed.
