Alice Walker is African-American novelist, short story writer, and poet. She was born February 9, 1944 in Eatonton, Georgia. Ms. Walker is most known for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for the novel entitled The Color Purple. She was the eighth child of sharecroppers. When Ms. Walker was eight-years-old her brother accidentally shot her in her right eye with a BB gun. As a result, she became blind in her right eye since then. Her interest in literature started in her senior year in high school. She married a Jewish Civil Rights activist/lawyer, Mel Leventhal, and she had a child from him. Some of her others famous pieces of literature include The Temple of My Familiar and Possessing the Secret of Joy. Currently, she’s still alive and active in environmental issues, economic justice, and feminist causes.

This is a creative and magnetic blog. The “mood and atmosphere” you have set make the viewer want to read about your featured person. So far, the background study is good. I look forward to more details and background on Ms. Walker.

    Take care.

    hey tenisha,

i like the creativity of this blog and it is very appealing to the viewer’s eye. I liked the way you put the picture of the writer and provided some interesting facts about the author. I liked that you added the fact about why she is blind in her right eye. Keep it coming! Can you give me some tips on how to put pictures in particular places?

So, Alice Walker… honestly, I never knew she was the one who wrote The Color Purple. Apparently I don’t pay attention to authors, but thats going to be quick to change.

Anyway, I really like the layout you chose. It’s nice and easy on the eyes because it isn’t to bright or dark. The biography you wrote was short yet full of information, which I really liked. So it’d be nice to read more about her soon, k? Til then, bye!
